Position Summary
The YMCA of Northeastern Ontario is looking for a Community Navigator (Francophone) to improve access to services for French‑speaking clients and reduce language and cultural barriers to integration and employment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop programming to support Francophone clients who face language or system navigation barriers
Offer individualized, culturally and linguistically adapted support to clients along the path to employment
Design local strategies to attract, welcome and retain French‑speaking job seekers
Ensure all tools, communications and resources are accessible in French
Help clients understand and access employment and settlement services offered by the organization and its partners
Provide one‑on‑one support to assess needs and connect clients with appropriate services (housing, healthcare, employment, language training, legal aid, etc.)
Facilitate referrals to internal programs and external community resources in both French and English
Ensure active offering of French‑language services across all programs
Align with provincial performance, quality and accountability requirements
Track results, prepare and present reports for the management team
Build relationships with Francophone community organizations, service providers and stakeholders
Advocate for Francophone clients to help them overcome systemic barriers to access due to language or cultural differences
Qualifications
Post‑secondary education in Social Work, Human Services, Community Development or a related field
College diploma or university degree in social sciences or a related field
Valid G‑class driver’s licence and access to vehicle
Fluency in French and English (spoken and written)
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in personal and/or vocational counselling
Experience working with marginalised populations, particularly Francophone communities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and English
Strong interpersonal and cultural competency skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and client database systems
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed
Current and satisfactory police record check with Vulnerable Sector

Annual salary: $56,244.02
