Teacher Active is looking to recruit Qualified SEND Teachers to work with children and young people across a range of specialist schools and SEND provisions throughout Suffolk.

We are looking for dedicated, adaptable and resilient Teachers who can create engaging learning experiences while supporting pupils with a variety of additional needs. About the Role

As a SEND Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, accessible and differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs and abilities of your pupils.

Depending on the setting, you could be supporting children and young people with Autism (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), communication needs and other additional or complex needs.

Building positive and trusting relationships will be a key part of your role. You'll work alongside experienced Learning Support Assistants, SEND professionals and senior leaders to provide pupils with a safe, structured and supportive environment where they can develop academically, socially and emotionally.

Responsibilities

Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons.
Teach children and young people with a range of SEND and additional needs.
Adapt lessons, resources and teaching strategies to individual abilities.
Work with pupils on a one-to-one basis, in small groups and within the classroom.
Build positive, consistent and trusting relationships with pupils.
Promote positive behaviour, confidence, independence and emotional regulation.
Support pupils who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education.
Monitor, assess and record pupil progress.
Work towards individual targets and outcomes outlined within EHCPs.
Work closely with Learning Support Assistants, senior leaders and other professionals.
Create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.
Maintain high standards of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

What We're Looking For

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with SEND.
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
A patient, resilient and adaptable approach.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Confidence differentiating lessons for pupils working at a range of academic levels.
The ability to remain calm and consistent when faced with challenging situations.
Reliability, flexibility and a positive attitude.
Previous experience within SEND, SEMH, ASD, alternative provision, PRUs or specialist education is highly desirable.
Mainstream Teachers looking to transition into SEND are also encouraged to apply.
