The State of Connecticut, Department of Correction (DOC), is recruiting for the position of Correctional Lieutenant at Mac Dougall-Walker Correctional Institution in Suffield.

Position

Highlights
  • These positions are full-time, 40 hours per week, and are located at Mac Dougall-Walker CI in Suffield.
  • Openings are available on first, second, and third shift (to be determined by the needs of the Agency).
  • These positions work on a 5x3 schedule.
  • Correctional Lieutenant responsibilities include:
  • Assisting supervising a large complement of officers.
  • Assuming responsibility for custody and security of inmates, buildings, and grounds in the absence of a Captain.
  • Assigning staff to posts and making frequent inspections to evaluate the performance of officers.
  • Providing effective oversight of posts and enforcing rules and regulations.
  • Responding to crisis situations in a supervisory capacity.
  • Reviewing and acting upon reports submitted by officers and/or other staff.
