Spanish Teacher | Collaborative & Supportive Academy | Suffolk Marchant Recruitment Suffolk, England, United Kingdom

CORE PURPOSE

We require an engaging, highly motivated Spanish Teacher to deliver the Modern Foreign Languages curriculum across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The role involves planning and delivering inspiring linguistic and cultural lessons, building pupils' communicative confidence, and fully preparing exam cohorts for GCSE Spanish examinations.

THE SCHOOL

An 11–16 secondary school located in Suffolk. The school operates with a centralized behaviour system managed by the senior leadership team to maintain quiet, focused classrooms. The MFL department is highly collaborative, sharing all schemes of work, assessment tools, and digital language resources to manage staff workload. A realistic feedback policy is in place to minimize out-of-hours marking.

KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS

Lesson Delivery: Plan and teach high-quality Spanish lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 for all ability levels.

Linguistic Fluency: Cultivate strong listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, incorporating authentic cultural contexts to build pupil engagement.

GCSE Preparation: Prepare Year 11 classes for GCSE Spanish examinations across all four assessment disciplines, tracking progress and systematically addressing learning gaps.

Differentiated Support: Adapt language resources and provide structured scaffolding to ensure accessibility for SEND pupils while challenging higher attainers.

Form Tutor Duties: Take responsibility for a tutor group, managing registration, daily routines, and parent contact.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Spanish, Modern Foreign Languages, or a related discipline.

Experience: Open to both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with a track record of stable progress metrics.

Skills: High fluency in Spanish, clear communication, strong classroom management, and an approachable manner.

REGIONAL CONTEXT

Local Area & Community: Based in the picturesque East Anglian county of Suffolk, the school serves a proud and welcoming community. The area combines historic market towns, scenic coastlines, countryside landscapes, and a supportive network of local families.

Transport & Commuting: Suffolk benefits from strong regional transport infrastructure, with main road links via the A12 and A14 corridors. Greater Anglia rail networks offer direct, convenient connections across key hubs such as Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds, and Newmarket, as well as straightforward access to Cambridge and London Liverpool Street.
