Position: Manual Machinist / Toolmaker

Are you trained on manual milling & turning machinery? Are you looking for a role that will allow you to share your experience & teach upcoming engineers? If so, the following role may be for you!

A respected manufacturer based in Mildenhall, Suffolk, is expanding its team to meet increasing demand and is seeking a skilled Toolmaker to join their workshop. This hands-on role involves the creation, upkeep, and enhancement of production tooling within a well-equipped and supportive environment.

What's the pay & hours?
This is a full-time, permanent position offering a salary of 40,000 to 45,000 (OTE) per annum, depending on experience. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:00.

Toolmaker Duties:

  • Manufacture, modify, repair, and maintain production tooling and fixtures
  • Work with traditional toolroom and workshop machinery
  • Support production by troubleshooting tooling issues and implementing improvements
  • Assist with tooling trials, testing, and fault finding
  • Carry out preventative maintenance to ensure tooling reliability and longevity
  • Maintain accurate documentation relating to tooling and maintenance activities
  • Work within ISO quality and regulatory standards
  • Attend occasional UK/international travel for project-related work
  • Participate in relevant training courses to support ongoing development

Ideally, You'll Have:

  • Proven experience working as a Toolmaker or within a toolroom environment
  • Experience using toolroom/workshop-based machinery
  • A qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Toolmaking, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • A proactive, self-motivated attitude and strong teamwork skills
  • Confidence with written and verbal communication, including MS Office
