Technical Support Officer
This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward thinking and supportive Green Space & Heritage team, working within a fast paced and proactive organisation.
You will be joining the Technical Support team in providing an effective and efficient administration service for the district’s Green Space and Heritage Service which manages Open Spaces, Parks, Cemeteries, Arboricultural and Landscape Services.
This role will primarily lead on Cemetery Service administration and will include the booking of interments, answering telephone and email enquiries, the issuing and transferring of deeds, memorial applications, liaising with all stakeholders and the preparation of related financial transactions.
You will also be required to support the Technical Support team with a wide range of administrative duties relating to all other aspects of the Green Space & Heritage service.
This role will require you to predominantly work in our office in Bury St Edmunds, at West Suffolk House, you may also be required to work from other Council offices in the district from time to time.
What you will needIdeally the post holder will have knowledge and experience of assisting bereaved families and liaising with Funeral Directors. A willingness and ability to learn a broad range of council services to provide a high standard of service to customers, contractors, and suppliers will be evident from your application skill set and at interview.
You will possess excellent interpersonal, numerical and IT skills and have a proven track record of working with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, with the creation of databases and spreadsheets.
We are looking for someone who wants a varied and challenging administrative and customer services-based role. You will have the ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, be highly organised, a good team player and able to multi-task. Attention to detail and accuracy are all essential for this role. You will need to have a positive can-do attitude and a strong desire to learn and grow with the service.
