Teacher Assistant Vocational

Salary: $26,188 - $33,596

Performs responsible human support and paraprofessional work assisting classroom teachers by working with individual students or small groups. Work is performed under the supervision of the classroom teacher and/or building administrator.

• Assist the classroom teacher with instructional activities and reinforce material through special efforts and repetitions.
• Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce material introduced by the teacher.
• Prepare materials for learning and instructional activities.
• Assist with large group activities and guide independent study.
• Report student problems and assist with classroom management.
• Perform cafeteria, hall, recess, and bus duties.
• Assist with lunch, snack, cleanup, lavatory, clothing, and wash routines.
• Provide classroom coverage and instructional support during teacher absences.
• Participate in inservice training programs.
• Perform related tasks as required.

Knowledge of classroom teaching practices; ability to maintain confidentiality; effective communication skills; skill in using classroom equipment; ability to establish effective relationships with staff, students, and parents.

Successful completion of 48 college credits or passing the Para Professional Test, with prior experience working with children.
