POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE:
Classification Supervisor (SC18) GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists the Assistant Deputy Superintendent of Custody Assessment in the supervision and administrative responsibility for the Classification, Records, Community‑Based Pre‑Release, and Community Corrections Programs. Interacts with inmates, detainees, and staff in the course of assignments. Exercises supervision and administrative responsibility for the Records Office. Performs related work and duties as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVEDReports directly to the Assistant Deputy Superintendent of Custody Assessment.
SUPERVISION EXERCISEDSupervises staff assigned to the Classification, Release Programs, and Records Office staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- a. Sentence computation for all commitments.
- b. Determining the discharge dates for all inmates.
- c. Posting all jail credit submissions.
- d. Posting and monitoring all earned good time.
- e. Tracking all outstanding warrants.
- f. Posting and tracking all court trips.
- g. Interacting with other criminal justice agencies.
- h. Supplying reports as requested.
- i. Tracking the CORI records.
- j. Monitoring compliance with the sex offender registry information.
- k. Collection of DNA with CODIS.
- l. Ensuring that all division staff are trained appropriately.
- Considerable knowledge of the criminal justice system, houses of correction, jails, courts, probation, parole, etc.
- Understands the roles of Institutional Community‑Based Programs and Community Corrections in a county jail and House of Correction.
- Ability to properly supervise assigned personnel.
- Ability to work in a large correctional facility with all staff and inmates.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to complete moderate to complex levels of qualitative and quantitative analyses.
- At least two years of experience or a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice.
