Position: Supervisor, Central Distribution - Full Time, Days

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is a 306-bed medical center, providing care to residents of eastern Long Island. The hospital facility is home to the Knapp Cardiac Care Center—an advanced heart disease diagnostic and treatment facility—as well as a modern ambulatory surgical pavilion with specialized services including women's imaging, a sleep laboratory, and bariatric surgery. Our provisional Level 2 Trauma Center delivers comprehensive and specialized care for patients with traumatic injuries.

The Stroke Center at NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is designated by the New York State Department of Health as a Primary Stroke Center, with expert neurologists available to provide treatment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Additionally, NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk has multiple outpatient sites, including an outpatient wound care center, a hemodialysis center, and various primary care and specialty offices.

Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Supervisor, Central Distribution - Full Time, Days. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for managing the deployed inventory in clinical locations using the People Soft PAR Management System. Onsite responsibilities include replenishment, par level management, cycle counts, verification of expiration, and working daily with unit management to load and unload new/old supplies.

Responsibilities include inventory management for the Central Distribution Storage Room including replenishment and non-stock. Fulfilling People Soft PAR or adhoc orders and preparing them for delivery daily to all units/locations 7 days a week including weekend and holidays to support the clinical function of the hospital. Ensures all orders are processed in a timely manner and with the constant awareness that the quality of the department's services have a direct impact on the institution's ability to provide excellent patient care.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for training new materials handlers
  • Responsible for staff assignments in absence of a supervisor
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Picks all PAR and adhoc orders from Clean Room according to Materials Stock Request (MSR), mindful of bin location, unit of measure (UOM) and quantity and expiration date
  • Prepares inventory and adhoc orders for delivery, sorting, removing corrugated cardboard as necessary
  • Packaging and labeling with destination; stages orders for delivery to clinical units
  • Delivers supplies daily to assigned clinical unit; loads PAR location, verifies counts, rotates stock and checks expiration dates for all refilled items; completes manual inventory as necessary
  • Processes returns from all PAR locations
  • Verifies the hand held scanners are in working order daily; notifies manager if repair is necessary
  • Performs monthly expiration checks on all items in PAR locations
  • Replaces labels and bins on units as necessary or when items are added or removed
  • Collects any reusable delivery totes or carts from clinical area
  • Maintains Central distribution Inventory
  • Verifies put away plan is correct and moves inventory into appropriate Central Distribution bin location using First In, First-Out (FIFO) method to ensure inventory is rotated appropriately
  • Operates warehouse equipment in a safe manner (e.g., power pallet jacks, manual pump jack, delivery vehicles, lift plates, etc.)
  • Maintains the Central Distribution in a neat and orderly manner; sweeps, empties garbage, disposes of all empty cardboard boxes and places in the appropriate receptacle for pick-up at the end of shift
  • Performs cycle counts as directed to ensure proper on hand inventory; participates in annual physical inventory
Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Current and valid NYS Driver’s License. Communication skills (both oral and written) and customer service. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications especially Word and Excel. Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time; ability to bend and to lift heavy materials and or move up to 100 pounds regularly.
