Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty Group (TPMG) is looking for Qualified Certified Medical Assistants for Suffolk locations! Competitive Pay Starting at $15/hr tpmg is comprised of over 200 physicians and advanced practice clinicians and is the largest physician‑owned group in Tidewater.
Position SummaryThe Medical Assistant exudes a strong dedication to offering exceptional patient care, facilitating the efficient flow of the patient office visit experience while maintaining high quality and compassionate care.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Perform patient intake to include medical history with accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
- Patient triage to include vital signs (i.e., blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, height and weight).
- Perform phlebotomy and ancillary clinical kit testing and specimen collection.
- Administer immunizations and a variety of injections.
- Maintain temperature logs, QA processes, OSHA policies.
- Ensure accurate performance of EKGs.
- Assist physician with gynecologic, surgical and wound procedures/exams.
- Complete pharmaceutical prior authorizations.
- Perform phone triage to include communication with pharmacies for patient medication refills.
- Perform Medicare Annual Wellness Visits.
- Set up, clean, and stock exam rooms.
- Enter laboratory and radiology orders electronically.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform routine laboratory tests.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to operate, clean, and sterilize.
- Knowledge of appropriate medical terminology to communicate with medical and laboratory staff.
- Skill in operating a variety of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- Skill in proper reporting of laboratory tests.
- Skill in communicating clearly with diverse publics.
- Skill in appropriately billing orders collected.
- Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer.
- Ability to work in multiple computer systems effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
- Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and follow written protocols.
- Ability to work independently.
- COVID‑19 vaccination required.
- Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA, or RMA).
