Position Title: Sr. Windows Server / VMware Administrator
Location: Suffolk, VA
Clearance Requirements: Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance
Position Status: Contract-to-Hire (C2H)
Pay Rate: Competitive; commensurate with experience
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Windows Server / VMware Administrator to support, secure, and optimize enterprise server infrastructure in a DoD-regulated environment
. This role is ideal for a hands-on infrastructure professional who thrives in mission-critical environments and brings deep experience with Windows Server, VMware virtualization, and DoD security compliance.
The selected candidate will play a key role in ensuring system availability, performance, and cybersecurity compliance while collaborating closely with cybersecurity and network teams.
Responsibilities- Administer and maintain Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 environments
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policy (GPO), DNS
, and core Windows services - Support VMware vSphere infrastructure
, including vCenter Server and ESXi hosts - Oversee virtual machine lifecycle management, performance tuning, and availability
- Apply and maintain DoD STIGs for Windows and VMware systems
- Perform vulnerability scanning and remediation using ACAS / Nessus
- Manage server patching and updates using WSUS or enterprise patching tools
- Develop and maintain Power Shell automation for administrative and security tasks
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot infrastructure issues
- Collaborate with cybersecurity and network teams to ensure secure, compliant operations
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field OR 5+ years of equivalent professional experience
- Proven experience administering Windows Server environments
- Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere / vCenter
- Experience supporting systems in DoD or classified environments
- Active Secret or Top Secret clearance
- IAT Level II certification

- CCNA Security
- GSEC
- GICSP
- SSCP
- Advanced certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP),
MCSE:
Core Infrastructure
, or CISSP - Strong proficiency in Power Shell scripting and automation
- In-depth knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies, RMF, and STIG implementation
- Experience with enterprise backup and storage solutions
