Database Engineer - PostgreSQL; AWS RDS
Job Description
Concept Solutions, LLC (CS) is seeking a Database Engineer – PostgreSQL (AWS RDS) to support a mission‑critical application modernization program for a Department of War (DoW) customer.
This initiative will modernize and simplify access across a portfolio of production applications by creating a unified platform with single sign‑on, a common user interface, and a repeatable approach for integrating applications. The program will also maintain and sustain existing applications to ensure operational continuity throughout modernization.
Responsibilities- Manage application-level database administration for three PostgreSQL databases hosted on Amazon RDS.
- Plan and execute database migrations, performance tuning, and optimization activities.
- Verify database backups and support improvements to database availability and reliability, including a single‑Availability Zone (AZ) instance.
- Support the platform engineering team with projection schemas and change‑data‑capture (CDC) configuration.
- Collaborate with technical teams to ensure database solutions support application modernization and ongoing production operations.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience administering PostgreSQL databases in production environments.
- Hands‑on experience with database migrations and performance tuning.
- Experience with Amazon RDS or equivalent managed database services.
- Active Secret security clearance.
- Experience with Debezium or PostgreSQL logical replication.
- Familiarity with AWS Gov Cloud environments.

Schedule:
Full‑time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with core hours of 9:00 a.m. The team operates in two‑week sprints, with a customer demonstration each sprint.
Travel: 0–10%, within the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoW security clearance. An active Secret clearance or higher.
