Join Sentara Health as a Registered Nurse in the Ortho/Spine & Bariatric Surgical Unit at Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA. Full‑time Swing Shift, 3p to 3a with rotating weekends. Sign‑on bonus up to $15,000 available for qualified candidates.
OverviewOur 24‑bed 1 East Surgery Unit specializes in orthopedics, spine, and bariatrics, with high‑acuity surgical patients from Endoscopy, General Surgery, and GI. Average patient stay 1–2 days. RN staffing 1:5 or 1:6 ratio, 6–8 discharges per shift. Fast‑paced, well‑staffed environment with strong orientation and ongoing staff development.
Job Responsibilities- Provide competent nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Conduct patient assessments, health promotion, teaching, and coordination of care.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, communicate professionally, and provide evidence‑based care.
- Registered Nursing license required in VA.
- BLS required within 90 days of hire.
- 1 year of acute‑care nursing experience preferred; no experience required.
- Preference for experience in GI, Endoscopy, Surgical, step‑down, or pre/post‑surgical settings.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s (MSN) preferred; candidates in process of obtaining a degree or licensure may be considered.
- Degree or diploma in Registered Nursing.
- Students in process of obtaining a degree or nursing licensure are acceptable.
