Registered Nurse (RN) Operating Room
Join Sentara Health as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room at Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, VA. This full‑time position features rotating shifts and floating between Obici and Belle Harbour locations.
OverviewIdeal candidates have completed a Peri Op 101 course or hold experience as a scrub or circulating nurse. The role supports a 40‑person OR team across multiple procedures using advanced technology such as DaVinci robotic systems.
Responsibilities- Provide competent nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, planning, implementation, evaluation).
- Support surgical teams with patient assessment, intra‑operative monitoring, maintenance of aseptic technique, and post‑operative care.
- Coordinate care and teach patients and families, ensuring health promotion and safety.
- Communicate with surgical staff, patients, and providers in fast‑paced OR environments.
Education
- Registered Nursing degree or diploma (required).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
Certification & Licensure
- Registered Nursing license (required).
- ACLS, PALS, BLS (required within specified time frames).
Experience
- Scrub and circulator experience in an OR.
- Completed Peri Op 101 program.
- Previous operating room experience managing complex cases.
- Excellent communication with patients and providers.
