EssentialJob Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide best‑in‑class guest service: greet guests promptly, address questions or concerns, recommend products, and thoughtfully thank shoppers.
- Support the visual and operational store environment, promote current sales initiatives, and build repeat business.
- Process guest purchases and returns accurately using the point‑of‑Sale computer.
- Answer phone calls courteously, handle escalated issues, and maintain professional standards.
- Promote Game Stop’s guest‑benefit programs (title reservations, trade‑in, Pro Rewards).
- Assist the Store Manager with training and setting expectations for store associates.
- Observe associate performance, provide timely feedback, and manage performance issues.
- Ensure all associates complete necessary onboarding, training, and compliance procedures pre‑shift.
- Schedule and supervise staffing to maintain optimum guest service.
- Approve payroll procedures and verify accurate compensation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and merchandised store, including restrooms, fixtures, and equipment.
- Fulfill Omni‑Channel orders and safeguard company assets through inventory control and loss‑prevention practices.
- Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete administrative duties.
- Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and manage stock‑room logistics.
- Reconciling daily business transactions and ensuring accurate bank deposits.
- Verify shipments, manage defectives/recalls, and record discrepancies in the POS system.
- Report injuries and maintain a safe working environment.
- Keep store records, manuals and documentation orderly.
- Delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Consistently adhere to Game Stop policies, procedures, and ethics code.
- Follow opening and closing procedures.
- Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
- Minimum age 18.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- At least 6‑month retail management experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, or management experience preferred.
- Video‑game knowledge is a plus.
Skills and Abilities
- Outgoing, welcoming personality with strong interpersonal skills.
- Provide individualized assistance to every guest.
- Clear verbal and written communication, with bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Perform well in fast‑paced, rapidly changing environments.
- Work independently and in a team.
- Meet associate performance expectations, including attendance and safety.
- Operate POS system.
- Basic mathematics and alphabetizing skills.
- Complete paperwork accurately.
- Follow written instructions.
- Execute financial tasks in accordance with company policy.
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays; minimum 3 days/week availability.
- Problem‑solving and critical‑thinking under pressure.
- Reliable, trustworthy and maintain good judgment.
- Physical capability to stand, walk, lift up to 30 lbs., and perform basic fine‑motor tasks.
- Onboarding understanding of military ranks for positions in military base stores (if applicable).
Full‑time store positions at Game Stop are eligible for incentive programs, 401(k), paid time off, dental, vision, and health insurance; bonus and other incentives may also apply.
Compensation$15.52 – $19.52 per hour
