Overview

This is a Seasonal/Part‑time position anticipated to start May 2026 and to end August 31, 2026.

Description

The role instructs swim lessons, ensures the safety of aquatic facility patrons, enforces facility rules, and promotes water safety. During an emergency, the employee administers first aid, CPR, defibrillation, and appropriate patient care. Other duties include assisting with swimming lessons, planning, implementing, and evaluating aquatic programs, planning daily pool activities, and performing routine administrative tasks to complete required paperwork.

Essential Job Functions
  • Observe swimmers to provide a safe swimming environment.
  • Maintain communications with supervisors, employees, other departments, vendors, the public, and outside agencies.
  • Clean and maintain the facility.
  • Enforce pool regulations and safety procedures to protect the life and well‑being of persons using the swimming pool.
  • Perform routine administrative tasks: data entry, record keeping, and filing.
  • Operate a computer and related equipment for essential functions (word processing, e‑mail, etc.).
  • Set up and take down equipment used for open swimming, classes, and events.
  • Provide assistance and input regarding programs, participants, and volunteers.
  • Administer basic first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per established standards.
  • Operate rescue equipment as needed.
  • Perform rescue techniques as required.
  • Attend staff meetings and conduct in‑service training sessions as required.
  • Assist with special events at aquatic facilities.
  • Complete incident/injury reports as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
  • High‑school diploma or GED.
  • Must pass and complete Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor, CPR/AED, and First Aid classes prior to first day of employment.
