Part‑time Support Staff
Responsibilities- Report to the Assistant Dean for Visual and Performing Arts, Education, and Sciences.
- Prepare all biology lab course activities, working with the lab coordinator, faculty requests and course curriculum, in addition to providing a quality and safe lab environment for students.
- Assist the Life Science Lab Coordinator in the maintenance of lab equipment.
- Organize and inventory equipment and lab materials.
- Set up and take down individual laboratory exercises.
- Prepare equipment and materials for individual classes.
- Prepare media and solutions for use in individual classes.
- Sanitize laboratories and prep areas.
- Store equipment and materials properly.
- Assist in the preservation of the college’s cadavers.
- Utilize aseptic techniques and maintain bacterial cultures.
- Follow proper safety protocols, including proper disposal of biohazard and/or chemical waste and wearing personal protective equipment.
- Assist in emergency situations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of at least one year of college biology lab courses required.
- Ability to work independently and follow directions, written and oral.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend hours.
- Personal transportation to travel between campuses as needed.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Google Drive and Microsoft Office.
