Part‑time Support Staff

Responsibilities
  • Report to the Assistant Dean for Visual and Performing Arts, Education, and Sciences.
  • Prepare all biology lab course activities, working with the lab coordinator, faculty requests and course curriculum, in addition to providing a quality and safe lab environment for students.
  • Assist the Life Science Lab Coordinator in the maintenance of lab equipment.
  • Organize and inventory equipment and lab materials.
  • Set up and take down individual laboratory exercises.
  • Prepare equipment and materials for individual classes.
  • Prepare media and solutions for use in individual classes.
  • Sanitize laboratories and prep areas.
  • Store equipment and materials properly.
  • Assist in the preservation of the college’s cadavers.
  • Utilize aseptic techniques and maintain bacterial cultures.
  • Follow proper safety protocols, including proper disposal of biohazard and/or chemical waste and wearing personal protective equipment.
  • Assist in emergency situations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of at least one year of college biology lab courses required.
  • Ability to work independently and follow directions, written and oral.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend hours.
  • Personal transportation to travel between campuses as needed.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Google Drive and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
