In this role, you will lead a team to plan and execute survey and meteorology strategy, survey scanning, and drone pilot programs. You will supervise survey activities, subcontractors, field verification of materials, and daily data downloading and processing. Your leadership will ensure successful implementation of survey work with a project’s safety, quality, and environmental programs.

Major Responsibilities: Leadership/Supervision
  • Proactively engages with their teams’ development, competency development/assessment, and feedback
  • Leads in a broad range of construction work within the surveying discipline.
  • Develops and recommends the construction surveying staffing plan for discipline group for approval by the PFE
  • Directs surveying activities of the assigned survey staff, ensuring compliance with procedures.
  • Assesses needs and develops survey training plan for the project.
  • Approves timecards, conducts performance assessments, and addresses employee relations concerns
Safety/Quality Control
  • Ensures the survey team’s implementation of the project safety, quality, and environmental programs
  • Ensures housekeeping and cleanliness of the project
  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely
  • Ensures work methods planned and executed safely
  • Develops Job Hazard Analysis and updates it as needed, or requirements change
  • Reviews in coordinating and resolving engineering, and construction problems with project personnel
  • Leads the review of project design and engineering documents, model, and model data to ensure their completeness
  • Leads Field and office training program
  • Possesses responsibility for ensuring compliance with procedures
  • Directs the maintenance of survey records for job history
  • Develops a process for tracking and maintaining required training and licenses
Equipment Management
  • Prepares requisitions for consumables, services, and equipment
  • Develops a process for tracking and maintaining survey equipment measuring and test equipment (M&TE) records
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Skills:

  • Proactively considers continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities
  • Ensures the corporate geospatial programs are properly implemented
  • Ensures the project’s Survey Control Network plan is properly implemented
  • Coordinates and schedules field activities with project supervision and staff
  • Monitors the application of standard work processes and procedures
  • Coordinates and ensures availability of crews required to execute geospatial activities
  • Possesses responsibility for the safe execution of Survey activities in accordance with applicable SWPPs required for construction (e.g., survey, marine, rail, tunneling, reality capture, remote sensing, metrology, UAS, LiDAR, GNSS, Machine control…
