Mascot Assistant – Sugar Land Space Cowboys

The Sugar Land Space Cowboys Mascot Assistant will serve as the bridge between fans and Orion, the Sugar Land Space Cowboys mascot, and represent the SLSC brand at community appearances, game day activation support, and other grassroots events. The Space Cowboys are looking for outgoing, energetic personalities to help naturally generate brand awareness, cultivate fan engagement, and work alongside the mascot.

• Work at on‑site and off‑site events assisting the mascot (e.g., baseball games, stadium events, youth baseball functions, corporate events, festivals, reading program visits, school visits, etc.).
• Provide logistical assistance to the mascot during appearances, acting as the point of contact upon arrival.
• Perform as a mascot performer and interact with fans in an engaging manner alongside the mascot.
• Assist in Game Day Operations for the mascot, including:
  • Performing as the mascot as needed.
  • Engaging with fans through skits and fan interaction.
  • Setting up and tearing down skits and in‑game activations.
  • Working in tandem with a second assistant during games.
  • Tracking the game to ensure activations happen at correct timing.
  • Assisting with content collection for social media accounts.
  • Maintaining and cleaning the mascot locker room, costumes, and props.
  • Assisting with creative planning and execution (game day, props, videos, and social media).
  • Performing as needed as an inflatable character.
• Assist in other areas such as:
  • School shows.
  • Video production days, media days, prop build days, and training days.
  • Preparation meetings for the upcoming season, including planning and rehearsing skits for games.

• Comfortable working in large crowds, performing in skits, and engaging fans through direct interaction.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
• Solid communication skills and timeliness.
• Ability to be a team player.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds unassisted.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time and work outdoors in inclement and/or hot weather.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

The position involves work in a stadium, office, and local community environment where noise and crowd levels vary. The position is subject to varying temperatures and weather extremes.

Regularly required to stand (3‑4 hours), walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Specific visual demands include close and focused vision. The role requires frequent talking or hearing and may involve outdoor activities in varying conditions.

Flexible schedule, including extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The role is part‑time, seasonal, and non‑exempt.

Rare travel may be expected. Appearances may include use of own vehicle to meet at local locations.
