About the RolePosition Overview: The Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) will function as an expert medical assistant providing highly competent support in technical and advanced examinations and treatments. This role performs delegated medical assistant level tasks under the direct supervision of a Physician and/or Registered Nurse for assigned patient populations, assisting with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatment, dressing changes, and administering general administrative duties in accordance with CLIA, HIPAA, NCQA, and government standards.
The Sr. MA may also schedule patient appointments, verify eligibility for care, and act as preceptor and clinical resource for other Medical Assistants.

Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalent education.
- Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
- Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA or Registered Medical Assistant or EMT and BLS – Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) – American Heart Association.
- Preferred:
Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT – ACA).
- Proficient in English communication for patient and employee safety.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and customer‑service focus.
- Strong knowledge of medical practice and equipment, and ability to assist with examinations, diagnostic and treatment procedures.
- Ability to develop and maintain clinical quality assurance and accurate medical records.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving, judgment, and learning attitude.
- Providing safe, patient‑centered, compassionate care.
- Proficiency in computer skills for documentation and work‑related purposes.
- Completion of required continuous training, education and maintenance of certifications.
- Effective teamwork and ability to establish relationships with patients and staff.
- Understanding of patient population and disease processes.
- Advanced assessment competence appropriate for level of practice.
- People essential functions: Promotes a positive work environment, encourages teamwork, resolves problems, and models proactive assistance. Collaborates with the interprofessional team, communicates relevant patient information, teaches peers, and serves as preceptor and clinical resource.
- Service essential functions: Provides care under supervision of a Physician or RN, plans pre‑visit workflow, anticipates patient needs, obtains vital signs, performs medication review, documents in EMR, follows up with patients, facilitates MyChart activation, coordinates care with hospital, ED, consultants, and community resources, and models behaviors that improve patient satisfaction.
- Quality/Safety essential functions: Reports observations and abnormal clinical findings, performs routine tests (EKG, rapid strep, urinalysis, urine pregnancy test), sterilizes instruments, and maintains exam and treatment rooms.
- Finance essential functions: Uses resources efficiently, manages inventory, orders supplies, manages time effectively, prioritizes tasks, minimizes overtime, and coordinates colleagues.
