The Assistant General Manager oversees the quality and success of daily operations, including staffing, pool operations, cash management, customer service, retail, vending, private party operations, and employee activities.
Responsibilities- Directs daily operations to ensure the school runs according to GSS standard operating procedures.
- Assists General Manager and department managers with daily tasks.
- Manages staff to ensure high productivity, excellent performance, and positive employee satisfaction.
- Trains and oversees aquatics department to provide superior swim instruction.
- Provides sales and marketing training to all qualified sales staff.
- Provides direction in retail and vending departments to achieve proper mix of products and pricing.
- Trains and oversees private party staff to maintain GSS standard operating procedures.
- Gains knowledge in Links software for bookings, class scheduling, reporting, and administrative functions.
- Maintains high level of competence in GSS pool operations for a safe and sanitary swim environment.
- Initiates and oversees workplace employee activities (“Fun” Department) to improve employee satisfaction.
- Directs implementation of the Emergency Action Plan and all safety procedures, training current staff on GSS EAP.
- Maintains current certifications and stays up‑to‑date professionally on aquatics and management field.
- Fulfills other duties as assigned by the Employer.
High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred. Certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, or childcare provider experience required. Two or more years of management experience preferred. Two or more years as a swimming instructor preferred.
Certificates & LicensesLifeguard, CPR/AED, and first aid certification required. Shallow water attendant highly recommended.
Work EnvironmentRegular exposure to heat and humidity; noise level usually moderate.
