PayHourly rate: $35.00–$50.00 per hour. Factors that may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
Job SummaryThe Field Technician II will inspect, test, and maintain high, medium, and low electrical power equipment, including SF6 and vacuum circuit breakers, pad mount transformers, GSU transformers, grounding equipment, instrument transformers, and various manual and motor-operated switches. Technicians will implement safety policies.
Responsibilities- Perform entry-level testing of high, medium, and low electrical power equipment independently while working with senior technicians.
- Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
- Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
- Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean equipment and components.
Skills and Abilities
- Pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
- Complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
- Work overtime and travel out of town for periods of time.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with voltage verification, contact resistance, insulation resistance, test equipment set up, reading one‑line drawings, and understanding equipment identification and associated hazards.
- Knowledge of LOTO, arc flash, and grounding practices.
- Ability to test most apparatus without supervision (breakers, transformers, CTs, PTs, cables, grounding).
- Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in electrical/electronic technology, or military experience preferred.
- 2–4 years of relevant industry experience.
- NETA II certification.
- Able to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 70 lbs.
