ObjectiveThe ADON works immediately under the Director of Nurses. The Assistant Director of Nursing assists the Director as instructed and, in the Director’s absence, has the authority to carry out duties or areas of supervision assigned. General duties include:
- Assisting the Director of Nurses with personnel, orientation, supervision, and staffing as directed.
- Periodically checking residents’ records and reporting.
- Assisting in the supervision and direction of nursing personnel.
- Investigating unusual occurrences or alleged abuse and promptly notifying the Director of Nurses.
- Ensuring that all resident rights are protected.
- Great customer service and assessment skills.
- Graduate from an accredited nursing school or an approved LVN program.
- Current nursing licensure in the State of practice; a Registered Nurse is preferred.
- 2+ years’ experience in supervision.
- Good mental and physical health.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and capacity to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
- Effective communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
- Administrative competence and flexibility.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and county laws governing skilled nursing facilities.
