How You Will Impact EducationInstruction/Education Responsibilities
- Review the plans and schedule with the principal, supervisor, or designated teacher for the teaching day.
- Teach the lessons prepared by the absent teacher.
- Report in writing the day’s activities at the end of each day and provide feedback as requested by the building principal.
- Follow all school and CSUSA policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
- Consult with the building principal and/or supervisor before initiating any lesson or procedure not specified in the teacher’s plans.
Student Management
- Maintain established routines and procedures of the school and classrooms as much as possible.
- Oversee pupil behavior in class and at other times during the school day as requested.
- Maintain appropriate student behavior at all times for assigned students.
School/Community Relations
- Maintain good relations with the faculty and staff of the district.
- Treat information about students and staff with utmost confidence.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment toward the job and the CSUSA mission, supporting the values outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Works with staff at all levels and demonstrates sensitivity to corporate needs, employee goodwill, and public image.
- Time Management – Prioritizing, Organizing, Scheduling.
- Computer Basics – Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Communication – Oral (including presentations), Written, Interpersonal (active listening) and Negotiating.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
- Completion of District's Substitute Workshop (as required by the district).
- Commitment to CSUSA values.
- Such alternatives to the above requirements as CSUSA may find appropriate and acceptable.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
- Usual school working conditions; may be noisy during high student traffic.
- No physical exertion required; somewhat stressful due to frequent student activity.
- Light work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects.
Job is non-exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
