Civil Engineering Associate

Position

CEMS, a multi-discipline Architecture and Engineering firm that serves Federal, Municipal, and Private clients in the Carolinas and throughout the East Coast, seeks to continue our sustained growth in our Downtown Wilmington, NC office with the hire of a Civil Engineer to fill the position of Engineering Associate. The position offers the opportunity to work on challenging projects in a supportive mid-sized business atmosphere.

This position is located in our Wilmington, NC office.

• Minimum of BS in Civil Engineering or equivalent engineering degree from accredited college/university
• Fundamentals of Engineering (EIT) Registration
• Minimum 1-3 years of experience in civil engineering and site design
• Must be able to coordinate with other engineering teams/disciplines within the firm
• Ability to work independently in a team environment and effectively manage time
• Demonstrated experience in obtaining required construction permits, including one or more of the following: sediment and erosion control; coastal stormwater; water/wastewater
• Must be able to work and effectively coordinate with staff in multiple office locations
• Effective time-management, written communication skills, analytical and interpersonal skills
• Knowledgeable in specific requirements affecting coastal communities in NC and SC
• Must be able to gain Military Base access

• Experience preparing bids and proposals, producing design drawings, preparing technical specifications, preparing permit submittals, and assisting in providing bid services and construction monitoring a PLUS
• Proficient with computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite and Civil 3D
