Job Description Summary
MUSC Children’s After Hours and Specialty Clinics are located at Summey Medical Pavilion in Nexton. We are a pediatric outpatient clinic under Shawn Jenkin’s children’s Hospital ing the day we host a variety of pediatric subspecialists such as pediatric orthopedics, cardiology, and pulmonary, among others. In addition, we provide a walk‑in After Hours Care, which is a direct extension of our pediatric emergency department to serve our community during the hours when most pediatricians are closed.
- Specialty clinics operate Monday‑Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
- After Hours care operates Monday‑Friday 3:00 pm – 10:00 pm, weekends and holidays 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

Job Summary /
Purpose:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) reports to the Manager and, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, provides individualized, goal‑directed, family‑centered patient care. The LPN demonstrates proficiency according to the laws governing nursing in South Carolina and delivers safe and effective care while interacting with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results and outcomes.
Minimum Education and Requirements: Graduate from an accredited Practical Nurse program with at least six months of patient care experience. Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state. A current CPR card is required (American Heart Association Basic Life Support or American Red Cross Professional Rescuer). Must demonstrate commitment to patient‑centered care philosophy through effective communication skills, professional demeanor, and excellent interpersonal skills.
Computer literacy required.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, and climbing stairs. Ability to work indoors and outside in temperature extremes, from elevated and confined areas, and in crowds, repetitive motions, and forceful lifting (up to 50 lbs.). Visual, hearing, and motor skills as specified in the original requirement list.
