Operating Room RN

HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital is seeking an Operating Room RN to provide high‑quality, patient‑centered care during surgical procedures. The RN will work closely with surgeons, surgical technologists, and anesthesia staff to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Self/preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance for predictability.
  • Participate in a culture of mutual respect and collaboration among all surgical staff.
  • Utilize continuous investment in equipment, including surgical instruments, devices, and patient positioning to enhance safety and workflow.
  • Engage in rounding with unit leaders, including charge nurses, to provide feedback on patient care and surgical workflow improvement.
  • Provide on‑call coverage during select non‑business hours.
  • Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding procedures and peri‑operative care.
  • Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including IV therapy, pre‑operative medications, and surgical site verification.
  • Participate in surgical site verification procedures, including briefing, time‑out, debriefing, and universal protocols.
  • Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
  • Deliver evidence‑based, continuous‑improvement centered nursing care.
  • Collaborate with providers, surgeons, surgical technologists, and other team members.
  • Apply nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to independently deliver safe care.
  • Assess patient condition, monitor throughout the shift, and document changes in the patient’s condition thoroughly.
  • Educate patients and families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment, and follow‑up measures.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing or higher.
