Job Description
The Quality Engineer ensures products and processes meet quality standards through
testing, process improvement, and compliance with regulations. Their duties include
developing quality control systems, inspecting materials and products, analyzing data,
troubleshooting defects, and collaborating with the production team to implement
solutions. Key requirements often include higher education in engineering, strong
analytical skills, and knowledge of quality management systems like ISO standards.
Key responsibilities:
Process and product monitoring:
Inspect raw materials, components, and
finished products to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
Quality assurance:
Develop and maintain quality procedures, inspection plans,
and product quality standards.
Problem-solving:
Investigate manufacturing issues and product defects, using
tools such as statistical analysis to find root causes and implement corrective
actions.
Auditing:
Conduct audits of suppliers, internal processes, and production areas to
ensure compliance.
Data analysis:
Use statistical methods to monitor quality metrics, identify trends,
and create quality reports.
Collaboration:
Work with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to
address quality issues and ensure parts from suppliers meet standards.
Compliance:
Stay up-to-date with and ensure compliance with relevant industry
and regulatory standards.
Monitor and inspect:
Conduct regular inspections and tests on materials,
components, and final products to identify any defects.
Analyze and report:
Analyze quality data to identify areas for improvement, track
key performance indicators (KPIs), and generate reports for management.
Key skills and qualifications
Higher education in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Knowledge of quality management systems like ISO standards.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Familiarity with quality control software and statistical analysis techniques.
