Senior Staff Accountant

Martinus is a market leading, full-service railway infrastructure company that builds and maintains large scale railroads and intermodals within North America. We have the internal resources necessary to construct full turnkey railway projects for the Class 1, Short Line and Industrial markets.

The role of the Senior Staff Accountant is to ensure accuracy and timely reporting of financial information, compliance with federal and state regulations and reporting requirements, be the subject matter expert on taxation (particularly sales tax and payroll taxes), and assist with new ERP rollout.

• Assist Controller with compilation of financial statements, annual tax return, and audit
• Month-end journals
• Compliance with federal & state regulations and reporting
• Be the contact person for various states Dept of Revenue and Dept of Labor
• State sales, use, and contractors’ taxes
• Payroll accounting
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with the rollout of new ERP COINS incl data migration and reconciliation
• Backup/2IC to Controller as needed
• Mentoring Junior Staff Accountant and transactional finance staff

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Accounting, Business, or other associated disciplines
• Minimum of 5 years of financial accounting, payroll accounting, and taxation experience
• Working knowledge of ERP systems
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
