Atlantic Health – Physician Advisor – Summit, New Jersey

Atlantic Health, one of New Jersey’s largest non‑profit healthcare systems, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced full‑time Physician Advisor to join our team at Overlook Medical Center in Summit.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide clinical direction and leadership to the organization, improving best‑practice patient outcomes grounded in quality, legal, ethical, regulatory, and reimbursement parameters.
• Act as a peer to physicians and consultant to Case Management and administration, intervening where practice patterns create disparities in pathways, intensity of service, severity of illness, patient/family rights, teamwork, or resource stewardship.
• Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of medical necessity criteria, managed care business models, risk arrangements, peer review, performance profiling, outcome management strategies, practice guideline development, and risk‑management principles.
• Work with utilization‑specific teams and clinical data to develop evidence‑based practice guidelines and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Be available for weekend coverage and occasional weekdays or holidays as needed.

Qualifications:

• Board Certified MD/DO – any specialty encouraged to apply.
• Prior clinical experience in care and management of hospitalized patients.
• Experience in acute‑care case‑management functions preferred.
• Strong knowledge of medical necessity criteria, risk‑management, utilization review, and performance profiling.
• Prior training from ABQAURP, AAPL, CPUR, IHI, ACPA or ACMA preferred.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in New Jersey.
• Availability to work weekends, and occasionally weekdays or holidays.

Salary Range: $250,000 – $280,000 base salary; no incentives.
