Base Pay: $28.87/hr – $47.67/hr (based on skills and experience)
As a Recreational Therapist II, you will create, arrange, and lead medically approved recreation programs for patients in hospital and other medical settings. Your responsibilities include:
- Directing activities such as sports, dramatics, games, and arts & crafts to help patients develop interpersonal relationships, socialization skills, and confidence for group activities.
- Adjusting program content to patient capabilities, needs and interests.
- Teaching relaxation techniques (deep breathing, concentration, etc.) to reduce stress and tension.
- Guiding patients through calisthenics, stretching and limbering exercises.
- Encouraging patients to develop leisure activities.
- Coordinating special outings and accompanying patients on recreational trips.
- Preparing progress charts and periodic reports for medical staff and treatment team members.
- Supervising and providing in‑service training for staff, reviewing assessments and program goals, and consulting on selected cases.
- Training volunteers and students in recreation therapy techniques.
- Serving as a consultant to employers, educational institutions, and community health programs.
- Submitting requisitions for needed supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.
The role requires:
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy (or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a medical setting.
- CTRS certification (preferred).
