Job Description
The Peer Recovery Representative (PRR) is a key member of a multidisciplinary team assisting patients with acute mental health needs within our innovative Emergency Psychiatric Assessment, Treatment and Healing (EmPATH) Unit. The PRR leverages lived experience to instill hope, provide support, and offer unique perspectives as part of the treatment team. The role includes individual and group support in the EmPATH Unit, the inpatient voluntary adult behavioral health unit, and the emergency department.
Responsibilities- Provide individual patient support: conduct personal meetings with patients in the EmPATH Unit and Emergency Department, and coach patients and their families on mental health wellness, recovery, and strength‑based skill development.
- Conduct group and support sessions: organize, facilitate, and complete strength‑based and recovery‑oriented groups in the EmPATH Unit and Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit.
- Assist with navigating mental health and recovery resources: educate and collaborate with patients, families, and the treatment team to connect patients with entry and linkage to appropriate resources.
- Participate and collaborate in treatment teams: act as an active member of a multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatry, nursing, crisis clinicians, social work, and medicine.
- Coordinate services: help patients connect with recovery services, enhance motivation for service engagement, and educate patients and families about service linkage and needs.
- Advocacy: collaborate with patients to identify recovery needs within the context of the multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Documentation: accurately complete all required documentation in all departments within the established timeframe.
- Education:
complete and participate in education initiatives for the department, program, and initiative.
- High School Diploma
- CRSP Certified Recovery Support Practitioner
- Preferred: CPRS Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist
