Neurodiagnostic Tech II EEG – Per Diem – Morristown & Overlook Medical Center, NJ

Atlantic Health System is seeking a Per Diem Neurodiagnostic Technologist II for the Neurodiagnostics Departments at Morristown & Overlook Medical Center. The position requires 12‑hour shifts (7 a‑7 p, 10 a‑10 p, or 7 p‑7 a) with weekend rotations for all per diem staff. There are no on‑call requirements.

Base pay range

$36.54/hr – $36.54/hr

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and ambulatory EEGs and bedside routines for adults and pediatrics. Conduct long‑term monitoring hookups for all inpatient populations.
  • Work in a wide variety of hospital environments (ICU, regular floor) with patient types ranging from neonate to adult.
  • Operate independently and as part of a team.
  • Recognize seizure patterns and provide a technologist's impression of studies; relay pertinent information to physicians.
  • Obtain relevant patient history and explain procedures to patients, ensuring patient safety.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of medications that affect EEG studies.
  • Skillfully apply the 10‑20 international electrode placement system, manage artifacts, and select appropriate sensitivity settings and montages.
  • Monitor patients during testing; collaborate with physicians for interpretation and clinical correlation.
  • Make independent decisions regarding data collection and adapt methods based on clinical observations.
  • Communicate effectively during emergencies and care for patients during seizures.
  • Set up and maintain long‑term testing, monitor skin integrity, and report skin breakdown to nursing.
  • Clip, prune, and archive data accurately and on time.
  • Maintain equipment, ensuring proper care and handling to prevent damage.
  • Communicate respectfully with nursing staff, physicians, and colleagues; promote self‑growth and development.
  • Work under limited guidance on moderately to complex situations requiring collaboration.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Proficiency reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Graduate or certificate from a neurodiagnostic program; alternatively, sufficient on‑the‑job training that satisfies the department’s requirements.
  • At least 2 years of experience or a 13‑week (500‑hour) student internship completed at Atlantic Health Neurodiagnostic Department.
Relevant Experience
  • Experience with MEG procedures (preferred but not required).
  • Previous hospital setting experience preferred.
  • Experience with EPIC and NATUS preferred.
  • Clinical neurodiagnostic internship preferred.
License/Certification (Required)
  • BLS CPR required within 30 days of hire.
  • Must hold a R. EEG T. or be able to sit for the ABRET registration exam within one year of hire.
