Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with EPIC experience for night shifts in a med/renal/gastro unit, requiring a NJ or compact RN license and BLS certification.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital-based med/renal/gastro unit
- Patient population includes medical, renal, and gastroenterology cases across pediatric to geriatric ages
- Typical shift is 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, three 12-hour shifts per week
- Epic EMR is used on this unit
- Floating to a nearby sister hospital may be required
- Perform comprehensive assessments and deliver competent clinical care to patients on the unit
- Ensure accurate documentation of patient assessments, progress, and education in the EMR
- Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and use of emergency equipment
- Actively educate patients and families regarding care and procedures as part of the continuum of care
- Follow all safety protocols including use of two patient identifiers
- Maintain professionalism and patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
- Team collaboration is emphasized to center care around patient and family needs
- Assignments are limited to one year with a required 30-60 day break before returning
- Active New Jersey or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum one year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with an Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience with Epic charting is expected
- Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates will not be considered
