Potelco, Inc. is seeking a Field Safety Coordinator / Subcontractor Safety Professional to support a major project in Richland, WA
.
In this role, you’ll work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and field crews to ensure work is performed safely and in compliance with Potelco and DOE safety standards. You will be deeply involved in daily site oversight, JHA management, incident response, and ensuring robust safety documentation throughout all phases of the project. This role is a full time position with a start date of mid January 2026, with a pay range of $45-$65/hour depending on experience.
What You'll Do
- Conduct daily job-site safety observations, audits, and walkdowns with project supervisors.
- Ensure supervisors document daily inspections, capturing positive observations, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
- Maintain a strong daily presence on-site and be required on-site during high-risk or critical activities.
- Verify equipment is properly maintained and safe for use.
- Support hazard identification, mitigation, and resolution of employee concerns.
- Develop and maintain Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) throughout the project.
- Submit separate JHAs for phased construction or work with dissimilar hazards.
- Create and maintain safety permits and plans for subcontractors and lower-tier subcontractors.
- Confirm training records and Employee Job Task Analyses (EJTA) are completed and current before work begins.
- Ensure products/chemicals used onsite are properly submitted and approved.
- Maintain safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance files.
- Facilitate new hire orientations and ongoing field safety training.
- Deliver toolbox talks, JHA reviews, and safety coaching to field personnel.
- Promote a Total Safety Culture through in-field mentoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Respond to incidents, near-misses, and events; conduct thorough investigations.
- Participate in investigations, fact-finding meetings, and scored inspections.
- Assist with emergency response efforts as needed.
- Attend project kickoff meetings, progress meetings, and at least weekly pre-job meetings.
- Participate in post-award job walkdowns alongside supervisors or contractor Safety personnel.
- Collaborate closely with field staff, project managers, subcontractors, and leadership to maintain alignment with corporate safety expectations.
- Represent Potelco during onsite regulatory audits and inspections.
- Oversight frequency may increase if Potelco determines additional rigor is required.
- Work daily with project supervisors and subcontractor teams to ensure full compliance with HMIS, DOE, and Potelco safety and health procedures.
