Position SummaryThe Calibration Technician II plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of measurement instruments and equipment used in the manufacturing process of durable goods. This position is responsible for performing precise calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various testing and measuring devices to maintain compliance with industry standards and internal quality requirements. The technician will work closely with engineering and quality assurance teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and uphold product integrity.
By maintaining detailed calibration records and documentation, the role ensures traceability and audit readiness. Ultimately, the Calibration Technician II contributes to the overall efficiency and quality of manufacturing operations by guaranteeing that all instruments function within specified tolerances.
- Diagnose and repair calibration equipment and tools to minimize downtime and maintain operational readiness.
- Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word & Excel), Internet research, data entry, etc.
- Maintain accurate and detailed calibration records, including certificates, logs, and reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as suppliers, buyers, quality assurance, production, and engineering to resolve calibration-related issues and support process improvements.
- Participate in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and demonstrating adherence to calibration protocols.
- Position requires climbing stairs & ladders, crawling behind equipment and working in confined spaces, to perform calibrations.
- Experience in calibrating several different disciplines of test & measurement equipment such as:
General Purpose, Mechanical, Dimensional, Thermal, Electronics / DCLF, Force / Load Cells, Oven Vessels and Autoclave Vessels, according to established procedures and standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in electronics, instrumentation, or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in using calibration tools and equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, pressure gauges, and micrometers.
- Strong understanding of calibration standards such as ISO/IEC 17025 and industry-specific quality requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and calibration procedures.
- Certification as a Calibration Technician (e.g., from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies - NICET).
- Experience with computerized calibration management systems (CMMS) and data analysis software.
- Familiarity with durable goods manufacturing processes and quality management systems (QMS).
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and root cause analysis techniques.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a background in electronics repair and maintenance.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in calibration or instrumentation within a manufacturing environment.
