Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Imaging Manager, site‑specific Lead Tech or Radiologist, the Mammography Technologist performs a variety of breast imaging procedures that require independent judgement, ingenuity and competency. Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference. - Obtains optimum quality breast images for radiologist interpretation while performing screening mammograms and diagnostic breast imaging studies.
- Assists radiologist during stereotactic and ultrasound guided biopsies.
- Assess patients through review of previous studies and history to determine screening versus diagnostic patients.
- Covers other functions in the department, as necessary.
- Provides radiation protection in accordance with proper standards as set by State and Federal boards, uses proper shielding, collimation and technical factors that minimize radiation exposure without affecting quality of images.
- Provides clinical instruction to student and staff technologists.
- Stays abreast of organizational, affiliate and departmental changes/updates by checking email on each shift.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- This is a non‑management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
- Education – Associate degree in Radiologic Technology
- Experience – Two (2) years of mammography experience
- NA
- ARRT‑Radiology and ARRT‑Mammo Registered
- Registered in Mammography, Ultrasound and/or Bone Density.
- SCRQSA certification (Required for team members working in South Carolina)
- BLS
Skills and Abilities
- Competent in all breast imaging modalities to include screening mammograms, diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasound, stereotactic and ultrasound guided biopsies.
- Able to stay abreast of changes and new procedures by attending educational seminars or classes and reading job related material.
- Basic computer skills
- Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)
