An X‑ray Tech plays a key role in a radiology department by assisting radiologists with imaging procedures. The technician is responsible for ensuring patient safety, explaining procedures in layman's terms, and consistently producing high‑quality images that help physicians diagnose accurately.
Location: 325 Broad St. Sumter, SC 29150
Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; weekends, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. – this position is 4 days per week plus 1 weekend per month.
Primary Responsibilities- Work between the X‑ray and CT departments.
- Always request at least two forms of identification (name, DOB).
- Instruct patients to assume correct positions for accurate imaging.
- Maintain radiographic equipment in quality working order.
- Obtain images for any areas requested by the physician or radiologist.
- Use radiation on the patient as necessary.
- Track patient records accurately.
- Assist radiologists and physicians in interpreting images.
- Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure to sensitive body areas.
- Communicate and prepare patients, including removing interference garments or jewelry.
- Position patients properly to obtain X‑ray images.
- Adjust equipment to achieve optimal density, detail, and contrast.
- Apply anatomy and physiology knowledge to aid diagnosis.
- Follow physician instructions closely, prepare equipment, position patients, and capture optimal images.
- Communicate calmly, compassionately, and professionally with all patient types, including the elderly, ailing, and handicapped.
- Apply HIPAA to every patient encounter.
- Enter reports into the patient chart after the radiologist reads the images.
- Verify each patient’s order before scanning; if questions arise, consult the ordering physician.

Required Qualifications- Certification as a radiologic technologist from an accredited institution.
- Registered with ARRT.
- SC state license.
- Hiring of new graduates based on clinical hours.
- 1+ year of experience.
