COMPLEX SAFETY AND HEALTH MANAGER at Pilgrim's

- Implement and maintain all corporate Safety and Health programs.
- Develop and maintain the site’s SharePoint.
- Maintain open lines of communication with the Corporate Safety Manager.
- Assist in the investigation of near misses, first aid cases, recordable cases, lost day injuries, as described in the Corporate Safety Leadership and accountability Program.
- Assist the Fleet Safety Regional Manager in vehicular accident investigations.
- Track injury trends and develop action plans to address identified accident trends.
- Keep the management team informed of any safety and health related issues or concerns.
- Interact daily with the Occupational Health Nurses to build a team atmosphere within the safety and medical areas.
- Display visibility in the processing plant and other site locations.
- Conduct periodic safety and health audits and track findings to ensure closure.
- Provide the Corporate Safety Office with the site’s monthly safety performance numbers by deadlines.
- Be actively involved in the site’s Workers’ Compensation program, attending meetings, providing supporting documentation for claims in litigation, and assisting in managing open claims.
- Provide training support and ensure all required monthly training is completed as scheduled.
- Manage security force to protect site employees, visitors, contractors, and property.
- Liaise with outside agencies for annual assessments (insurance carriers, local fire department, OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Generate, manage, and monitor the safety departmental budget, seeking cost savings in training, travel, and PPE.
- Liaise with the Property Insurance Company to close open recommendations and coordinate with Engineering Construction to meet FM Global specifications.
- Engage with the local medical community to ensure vendors understand OSHA recordkeeping and return‑to‑work programs.
- Five or more years of safety experience in the food industry preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Extensive knowledge of Workers Compensation, OSHA, DOT, etc. is essential.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Bi‑lingual (Spanish/English) capabilities are a plus.
- Must be available 24/7 as needed.
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Safety Engineering/Management or a related field.
