Job Description Summary
The quality floater is an inspector role trained in all production inspection areas of the plant. Interfaces with Production Management / Associates to contain nonconforming product when identified during inspection processing. Performs containment reduction sampling to identify the scope of the nonconformity within a production batch to allow release of conforming product and minimize impact to blocked stock. Tests/Inspects components and/or finished goods for acceptability and functionality.
Provides quality related support to validations / projects as needed.

- Conduct sampling, product testing, and visual inspection of components and/or finished goods; identifying nonconforming materials and ensuring proper containment as required.
- Report all product nonconformance issues to Quality Management, and Production Supervisor.
- Initiate Quality Holds (QNs) and ensure the notifications are completed accurately and completely.
- Engage in Safety, Quality, Production and Plant related programs as required (Safety Observations, Safety Gemba).
- Record the results of inspections, tests, and audit findings on the appropriate forms and/or in the Quality Module of SAP. Complete accurate, timely, and legible documentation of all inspection/testing data.
- Stat sample or contain hold products as applicable per the appropriate specification requirements.
- Read and interpret sampling plans to determine sample size and/or accept/reject criteria.
- As identified trainer, train new hire/transferred inspectors to inspect product per the appropriate specifications and utilize all gauges/equipment pertaining to Quality Assurance testing.
- High School Diploma or GED
- 6 months of Quality Experience
- BD is a smoke‑free campus. Smoking and the use of electronic smoking devices, marijuana, or tobacco products are not allowed on BD property, grounds or in the parking areas.
- False eyelashes, press‑on fingernails, and jewelry are not allowed on the production floor including dermals. Any associate wearing dermals will be required to cover them while working on the production floor.
- Shoes are required to be steel toe and non‑slip for all associates while on the production floor for safety purposes.
