Job DescriptionThe Accounting Director is responsible for training all client GL accounting staff and assisting in all aspects of Association accounting processes. This is an accounting support position in a fast paced centralized accounting services environment providing financial services to community associations throughout North America.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Supervises client accounting and customer service staff
- Assigns branch portfolios/tasks to client accounting staff based on experience, skill level, and abilities
- Trains and mentors client accounting staff and assists in all aspects of association accounting processes
- Conducts final review of assigned monthly Association financial reports
- Supports community Association Manager and Association Board of Directors as requested
- Works with supporting departments (A/R, A/P, Data, Association Payroll, Tax, and Investment teams) on issue resolution using sound business acumen
- Bachelor's Degree with minimum 6 years of experience or minimum 10 years experience general ledger accounting; preferably 2 years experience at the controller level
- Minimum 3 years as an Accounting Manager supervising staff accountants
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Association of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) guidelines
- Able to interpret and apply industry related law
- Experience in budget development and implementation
- Strong problem solving skills with acute attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines and goals
- Ability to professionally communicate both internally and externally with individuals at all levels of an organization, including senior leadership
- Ability to work both independently and in a team setting managing people; flexible, adaptable, and thrives in a fast-paced business environment
- Skilled in being a self-motivating, analytical, and proactive team player
- Exceptional communication skills - listening, written, and verbal
- Exceptional time management skills
- Understanding of, or experience in, the Community Association Management Industry preferred
