Essential Functions
  • Assess patient health status, compliance, and determine diagnostic/therapeutic procedures.
  • Provide acute and chronic care, taking histories and performing physicals.
  • Establish goals, treatments, and care plans with physician and patient/family.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary treatment and consult physicians.
  • Document findings, treatments, and patient information in the medical record.
  • Educate patients/families on care and exercises.
  • Serve as an education resource for patients, families, and staff.
  • Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants and Technicians.
  • Provide ongoing education to staff and assist the director with patient issues.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate current competencies for the position.
Education & Certification
  • Master’s degree.
  • Current certification as a Physical Therapist.
Experience
  • Two or more years in spine orthopedics and general orthopedics.
  • Two years in an outpatient PT clinic.
  • Experience with orthopedics preferred.
Knowledge
  • Acute and chronic protocols, medication administration, and physical care delivery.
  • Patient assessment and measurement of physiological indicators.
  • Health promotion principles and patient learning measurement.
Skills
  • Gathering and analyzing physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data.
  • Accurate patient evaluation in person or by phone, providing appropriate advice, intervention, or referral.
  • Adjusting care plans based on patient changes.
Abilities
  • Responsible decision‑making within the scope of practice.
  • Development of health education programs and materials.
  • Collaboration with all health care team members.
