Assists the Golf Course Superintendent in all aspects of course maintenance operations. Manages the course maintenance operation in the absence of the Superintendent. Assists in personnel management and evaluation, employee safety, personnel discipline and may also plan or modify daily work schedule based on the Superintendent’s direction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job’s overall responsibilities.)
- Supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of the golf course including pumps, irrigation, drainage systems and computer setup.
- Completes office work including filing, recordkeeping, inventory, and time record maintenance.
- Applies and supervises application of fertilizers and chemicals.
- Performs structural pest control and maintains a valid and current Structural Pest Control Applicator license. Takes continuing education courses as necessary to maintain licensure.
- Operates and supervises the use of various heavy equipment including front end loaders, backhoe, and trencher.
- Coordinates with pro‑shop staff to ensure preparation of the course(s) for regular play and tournaments in the Superintendent's absence.
- Impeccable service and social perceptiveness include the ability to communicate values and attitudes that contribute to a positive culture association wide, encouraging teamwork and possessing an open communication style with both employees and community members.
- Regular on‑site attendance in compliance with attendance policy is expected.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must maintain both a valid Arizona driver's license and clear driving record for insurance purposes.
- Applicants must have the ability and qualifications to quickly obtain a Golf Course Applicators License within 90 days of employment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES – This job assists the Superintendent with supervisory needs in their absence and direction.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE – Sufficient training and education to demonstrate possession of required knowledge, skills and qualifications are required.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Two‑ or four‑year degree highly preferred in Horticulture or Turfgrass Management.
- Absent a degree, an equivalent combination of educational and experience may be substituted.
- Minimum of four years' experience on a golf course
- Minimum of at least one year in a supervisory position overseeing skilled trades.
- Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish is given priority and is highly preferred.
- Must have recent and relevant supervisory skills.
