An established and growing construction consultancy is looking to appoint two Consultant Quantity Surveyors and one Senior Consultant Quantity Surveyor to join its Sunderland office.
With a strong pipeline of secured work across the North East, this is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects spanning healthcare, education, residential, commercial, leisure, infrastructure and public sector developments.
You’ll have the opportunity to see projects through from inception to completion, working closely with clients and project teams while developing your technical and commercial expertise within a collaborative and supportive environment.
The ProjectsCurrent commissions include:
- Healthcare projects ranging from GP surgery refurbishments and extensions through to major hospital developments
- Higher education projects for leading universities
- Commercial office and mixed‑use developments
- New‑build residential developments
- Local authority regeneration, infrastructure and public realm schemes
- Leisure and community projects
Projects are primarily located throughout the North East, with occasional opportunities to support wider regional projects where specialist expertise is required.
The Opportunities Consultant Quantity SurveyorSalary: £36,000 - £42,000
This position would suit a Quantity Surveyor with consultancy, client‑side or contractor experience looking to build their career within a professional consultancy environment.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Cost planning and estimating
- Procurement and tender management
- Contract administration
- Interim valuations and final accounts
- Employer’s Agent services
- Contract and commercial advice
- Client and stakeholder management
- Site inspections and project handovers
- Supporting project delivery from inception through to completion
Salary: £55,000 - £62,000
This role would suit an experienced consultant with a strong background delivering Quantity Surveying services across sectors such as education, healthcare, leisure, commercial or public sector projects.
Candidates are likely to have gained experience within a consultancy environment and may have worked for organisations such as Turner & Townsend, Atkins/Faithful+Gould, Gleeds, Ridge, Pick Everard or similar.
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading commissions and managing project delivery
- Providing strategic cost and commercial advice
- Procurement and contract management
Employer’s Agent and Contract Administrator duties - Managing client relationships
- Mentoring and supporting junior team members
- Supporting business development activities where appropriate
- Delivering projects to cost, programme and quality objectives
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar
- Ideally 2-5 years’ experience
- Strong commercial awareness
- Experience of pre and/or post‑contract services
- Ambitious and keen to progress professionally
- Excellent communication skills
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar
- Ideally 5+ years’ consultancy experience
- Strong pre and post‑contract Quantity Surveying expertise
- Excellent knowledge of procurement routes and contracts
- Experience managing projects independently
- Strong client‑facing capabilities
- MRICS desirable but not essential
- Hybrid working
- Only 2 days per week required in the office
