Here at Iconic Media Group, we’re investing in our continuing growth and looking for an ambitious
multimedia journalist to play a senior role within our newsroom and really get results. We are looking for a Local Democracy Reporter to cover councils across Sunderland, South Tyneside and Hartlepool, holding those in power to account and standing up for the interests of our communities.
So, what do you need to get started?
You will have proven experience in local democracy reporting, with examples of your work to share with us.
You will have a strong track record of covering the issues that matter most to local communities, from council meetings, planning decisions and transport schemes to major regeneration projects and community events. A thorough understanding of how local government operates is essential, along with experience of reporting on council meetings and local elections. You'll also be able to write quickly and accurately under pressure, with shorthand to 100wpm.
Alongside your strong understanding of digital, video and print content, you’ll ideally have experience and proficiency with content management and publishing systems. However, if you canbring a strong work ethic, enthusiasm, a can-do attitude, and a commitment to develop your skillset, full familiarisation and training will be provided. A driving licence and your own car will be a distinct advantage.
