Overview

Wearside Medical Practice is a hardworking, friendly, profitable practice with over 8,000 patients, located close to Sunderland city centre. Situated within a purpose-built building and adjacent to Sunderland Royal Hospital. Good CQC (June 2022) and high achieving QOF.

This salaried GP post is open to newly qualified and experienced GPs. The practice supports Tier 2 visa applicants and offers a supportive team environment with a robust administrative and clinical structure.

• Manage a busy and interesting clinical caseload, including routine and on-call sessions.
• Lead on key disease areas, monitor trends in QOF, contribute to treatment planning, staff training and prescribing, and help develop healthcare services for a diverse patient list.
• Attend MDT, clinical, safeguarding, significant events, and care for patients within aligned care homes.
• Participate in strategic review, audits, and development of the practice to improve quality health outcomes.
• Clinical duties include home visits, signing repeat prescriptions, acting on test results, medical reports, and examinations, following practice protocols.
• Provide preventive health care, medical support to nursing staff-referred patients, and cross-cover as needed.

• EMIS Web experience preferred.
• Salary: dependent on experience.
• Leave: 6 weeks.
• Protected time if pursuing GP trainer role.
• Part of a PCN with support from pharmacists, social prescribers, dietician, mental health practitioners; supported by 3 part-time GPs and 2 GP partners, 3 ANPs, 2 HCAs, 2 practice nurses, and a full admin team.
• NHS Pension and Medical Defence Union fee payable;
  Tier 2 visa applicants supported.

• Qualifications
  • Qualified Registered General Practitioner; current UK professional registration required.

• UK registration and eligibility for practice in the NHS context.
• Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of safeguarding requirements.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and appraisal in line with NHS/GMC expectations.

Wearside Medical Practice is supported by a PCN pharmacist and mental health practitioner. The team includes 3 ANPs, 2 practice nurses, 2 HCAs, and a full administrative staff. The practice provides care for patients in an aligned care home and emphasizes a high standard of patient experience.
