We invite applications for the Graduate Teaching Associate in Security position at Buckinghamshire New University.

The purpose of this role is to support teaching and learning through the delivery of modules in conjunction with the Programme Leader. Students will receive class teaching, personal tutorial support, feedback, coursework assessment and examination marking, with a focus on a learner‑centred, inclusive approach.

- Teach and support students using a learner-centred approach, committed to delivering a first‑class experience.
- Act as the main point of contact for class teaching for one or more programmes.
- Design, prepare and deliver teaching materials within the overall module/programme framework, using appropriate media.
- Implement enhancement activities (e.g., blended learning) as appropriate.
- In conjunction with the Programme Leader, undertake personal tutoring, student recruitment, assessment, review and evaluation:
- Prepare standard materials and discussion questions.
- Demonstrate techniques and equipment usage.
- Guide students to produce work at an appropriate academic level.
- Assist with preparation for examinations.
- Mark assignments, essays and exams using solutions provided by the Programme Leader.
- Provide effective feedback, support and guidance to promote improvement.
- Manage late submissions and refer to the Programme Leader if required.
- Handle general administration of the tutorial process.
- Deliver excellent customer service, as reflected in student feedback.
- Participate in Open Days, school, college and partnership links, and marketing and promotional work.
- Provide pastoral care and project supervision to students.
- Engage in professional development activities (e.g., CPD, conferences).
- Maintain and foster the university’s high reputation in partner settings.
- Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements (Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR, Health and Safety, UKVI, Equality and Diversity).
- Carry out any other reasonable duties required by the Dean or Associate Dean.
- Practice an inclusive approach and support the building of an inclusive university community where people can be themselves.
- Contribute to the wider work of the cluster/college.
- First degree in a relevant field.
- Working towards a relevant master’s degree.
- Commitment to achieving a teaching qualification.
- Adequate knowledge of the discipline or field.
- Specialist skills appropriate to the programmes taught.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office software.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with all stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
- Flexibility and ability to respond to changing priorities in a busy environment.
- Excellent people skills, building relationships with colleagues and external partners.
- Willingness and ability to work in off‑site locations.
- Willingness and ability to contribute to University Open Days (which may fall on Saturdays).
