About

the role

We are seeking a Graduate Teaching Associate (GTA) in Physiotherapy to join our growing School of Health and Social Care Professions. The post is full-time and permanent, and offers a unique opportunity for an aspiring academic with a passion for teaching, clinical education and student development.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate teaching sessions and practical tutorials.
  • Support students during placement preparation.
  • Provide academic feedback and mark assessments.
  • Contribute to OSCE preparation and clinical teaching.
  • Offer pastoral and academic support where required.
  • Support the primary care hub.
  • Engage in professional development activities (e.g., CPD, attendance at conferences) relating to teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Contribute to Open Days, school, college and partnership links and the marketing and promotional work of the Department and/or School.
  • Deliver pastoral care to, and project supervision of, students.
  • Maintain and foster the high reputation of the University in practice partner settings.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to work toward a fully fee‑waived PhD in an area aligned to physiotherapy education, practice or workforce development. Upon completion of the PhD, you will be automatically progressed to Lecturer level within the University.

Qualifications

We consider applicants with a First Degree in a relevant field and a commitment to working towards and achieving a teaching qualification. Applicants should also have:

  • Knowledge of the physiotherapy discipline and specialist skills relevant to the courses taught.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office software.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with all stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Flexibility and responsiveness to changing priorities in a busy environment.
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to build good working relationships with colleagues and external partners.
  • Willingness and ability to work in off‑site locations and to contribute to University Open Days (which may fall on Saturdays).
