We are seeking a candidate who can demonstrate strong practical and theoretical knowledge in Electrical Installation and deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment practices up to Level 3. You will work with a dedicated and friendly team to support learners in achieving positive outcomes and progressing into successful careers. There is significant potential for further development and expansion across this curriculum area, and you will play a key role in helping to shape the future of Electrical Installation at Sunderland College.
You will plan, promote, deliver, monitor and evaluate your teaching while supporting learners' academic and personal progress. You will also build positive relationships with parents, employers and industry partners to ensure students receive an outstanding experience.
- Plan, deliver, monitor and evaluate high-quality teaching, learning and assessment from Level 1 to Level 3 Electrical Installation.
- Take responsibility for the recruitment, retention, progress and achievement of students within your programme(s).
- Contribute to curriculum planning, internal and external quality assurance processes, and programme performance reviews.
- Provide high-quality academic and pastoral support, including tracking, monitoring and targeted intervention where required.
- Build and maintain strong employer links to support work experience, site visits and positive learner destinations.
- Support marketing and recruitment activities such as open events, school visits and applicant interviews.
- A typical teaching timetable will draw from the following core Level 3 Electrical Installation units:
- Apply Health, Safety and Environmental Considerations
- Electrical Scientific Principles and Technologies
- Understand Design and Installation Practices and Procedures
- Understand How to Plan and Oversee Electrical Work
- Understand Terminations and Connections of Conductors
- Inspection, Testing and Commissioning
- Understand Fault Diagnosis and Rectification
The role is 37 hours per week, including: 24 hours of teaching per week. These are timetabled lessons, generally split across:
- Classroom theory sessions
- Workshop-based practical sessions
- Tutorials and Global Skills
These hours support the broader delivery, quality, and improvement of the programme. Activities include:
- Developing learning materials
- Creating/marking assessments
- Internal quality assurance tasks
- Team meetings & professional discussions
- Standardisation with colleagues
- Student progress monitoring and admin
