Overview
A specialist partner school in Sunderland is looking to appoint a dedicated SEN English Teacher for a full-time role starting in September. The specialist setting supports pupils with Autism, SEMH needs, ADHD and speech and language difficulties. The school follows a highly personalised curriculum and prides itself on creating a therapeutic and inclusive environment where pupils can develop academically, socially and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities- Delivering engaging English lessons adapted to individual learning needs
- Supporting pupils with literacy, communication and emotional regulation
- Differentiating resources and teaching approaches effectively
- Managing behaviour positively and consistently
- Building trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced barriers to education
- Collaborating with support staff and wider professionals
- Supporting pupil progress against EHCP targets
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)
- Experience teaching English within SEN or alternative provision desirable
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to motivate and engage vulnerable learners
- Compassionate and resilient approach

CompensationAll pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
